Is New York Prepared for the Super Bowl on Steroids?
India vs Pakistan – The Biggest Rivalry in Sports
Whatsup Squad,
Earlier today, Team USA shocked the cricketing world when it upset international powerhouse Pakistan.
And while it’s a big moment for cricket’s growth in the US, Pakistan’s next match has had New York officials preparing for months.
As Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman put it, “India vs. Pakistan is like the Super Bowl on steroids.”
The Field of Dreams
As co-hosts with the Caribbean of the T20 World Cup, the U.S. is prepared to host 16 matches in total.
Although dedicated cricket grounds already exist in the other host regions, New York had to construct a new $30 million stadium in Long Island’s Nassau County.
The 34,000-seater temporary stadium is the first-of-its-kind for international cricket and believed to be the largest ever constructed in the United States.
Work on the site began in January, but actual construction didn’t start until med-February.

Focused on sustainability, the project reuses the grandstands from the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Once the tournament ends, the entire stadium will be dismantled and restored to its original state as a publicly accessibly park.
That’s great for sustainability, but not great for cricket’s legacy in America.
